Problem Note 68629: Selecting the "Event of effects" option yields unexpected behavior in the Forecasting View in SAS® Forecast Studio

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

In SAS Forecast Studio, when you go to View ► Edit Forecasting View Properties and select the Effect of events option, you might encounter one of the following symptoms in the Forecasting View:

  • The plot and data table are blank.
  • In the plot, the Historical Data points and Reconciled Forecast line are correct, but the Final Forecast line is only partially displayed.
  • In the plot, the Historical Data points are correct, but the Reconciled Forecast and Final Forecast lines are incorrectly shifted upward or downward.
  • In the plot, the Reconciled Forecast and Final Forecast lines are correct, but the Historical Data points are incorrectly shifted upward or downward.

The problem occurs when a model in your project includes an input variable that meets the following conditions:

  • Uses a Box-Cox transformation.
  • Contains 0 values in the forecast region.

To work around the problem, take either of these actions:

  • Modify the definition of the model to use a different transformation for the input variable other than a Box-Cox transformation.
  • Replace the 0 values in the forecast region of the input variable with missing values in the input data set.
